The 15th FIB Heineken summer festival at Benicassim on Spain's eastern Mediterranean coast will be the biggest ever, in terms of attendance and the size of the site, organiser José Morán said during a press conference in the town.

At the press conference today (May 8), Morán was in the company of Heineken sponsor representatives and local and regional political leaders, whose councils are again part-funding the July 13-16 event.

Morán said more than 45,000 people will attend the four days of music and ancillary events by the sea, and 60% of them will be foreigners, mainly from the United Kingdom and other northern European countries. He said the four-stage concert area will be expanded to 130,000 square meters, and the camping area will increase by 50% to 200,000 square meters.

Morán, who runs the International Benicassim Festival (FIB) with his brother Miguel through their Madrid-based Maraworld company, said the 40,000 four-day season tickets put on sale last December were sold out by mid-April, "which is an unprecedented milestone," he said.

Headliners include Oasis, Kings of Leon, Franz Ferdinand, the Killers, Paul Weller, Lily Allen, the Psychedelic Furs, Magazine and Gang of Four. Morán also claimed this year's line-up of Spanish acts was the best ever at FIB Heineken. It includes Fangoria, We Are Standard, Christina Rosenvinge, Nacho Vegas, Russian Red, Javier Corcobado, Josele Santiago, and Cooper.

"FIB Heineken is a must-see fixture in the music world, and we are delighted to contribute with the best festival in the country, and one of the best in the world," said Diego Antoñanzas, Heineken director of sponsorship in Spain.
