The video for Coldplay's new single, "Strawberry Swing," will be premiered in U.K. cinemas from July 22, before screenings of "Bruno" and U.S. box office hit "The Proposal."

Odeon, the U.K.'s biggest cinema chain, has exclusive theatrical rights to the premiere. It is not known at this stage whether the video will be shown in cinemas outside the U.K.

From July 20, the video will also be exclusively available for free via integrated Web and mobile platform Babelgum.

The short film was directed by Shynola, the team behind music videos for Radiohead, Blur and Beck. It features frontman Chris Martin in battle with a giant squirrel in a world drawn entirely in chalk.

The video will be commercially available from Aug. 3, while the single will be released digitally on Sept. 14.

Coldplay play a run of stadium dates in the U.K. during September, with Jay-Z, Girls Aloud and White Lies, while Elbow has been added as the main support at Phoenix Park in Dublin on Sept. 14.
