Alejandro Fernandez and his former label, Sony Music Mexico, have reached an agreement by which an album of unreleased songs Fernandez recorded while under contract with Sony won't be released.

Sony had planned to release the songs as an album called "Diferente," just as Fernandez is prepping the release this fall of two albums under his new label, Universal. Acting on a court order obtained by Fernandez' attorney, federal authorities in Mexico conducted a search and seizure of Fernandez' masters, albums and cover art from Sony's offices earlier this month. Fernandez' camp asserted that the singer had fulfilled his seven-album contract and that Sony didn't have the right to release another.

According to published reports, the agreement between Fernandez and Sony was reached without financial compensation for either side.
