Sony Music, Motorola and Argentine wireless carrier Personal have launched a contest among high school students to form a new pop band.

The aspiring pop stars submit photos, video and audio to www.recreopersonal.com to be judged by fans and by Sony A&R representatives Paul Forat, Rafael Vila, Alex Gallardo, Guillermo Mazorra and Bruno Batista. Two boys and two girls will be chosen as winners at the end of the contest, and will receive a contract to record an album with Sony. The students' high schools will also receive musical instruments and equipment.

Sixteen finalists will have to complete a set of tasks that require them to assemble a "team" among their peers of an art director, stylist, fan club president, manager, etc. Participants are rewarded along the way with Motorola handset and Personal music download giveaways.

The contest's director is Fernando Lopez Rossi, a songwriter and veteran of tween pop hits from the TV series "Casi Angeles" and Disney's Spanish-language productions of "High School Musical."
