The return of U.K. music TV chart show "Top of the Pops" for Christmas Day and New Year's Eve won decent ratings for the BBC.

The weekly chart countdown was pulled from the schedules in July 2006 after a 42-year run. Various revamps and schedule changes were not enough to keep the weekly show going, but the traditional festive special has been maintained.

According to the BBC, the Christmas Day edition on BBC One pulled in 3.4 million viewers, down 300,000 on the previous year. The special featured performances from Dizzee Rascal, Kasabian, Lily Allen, JLS, Alexandra Burke, La Roux, Sugababes, Florence and the Machine and Muse.

The New Year's Eve edition had 4.8 million viewers and a 24% audience share. It featured Robbie Williams, Shakira, Tinchy Stryder featuring N-Dubz and Calvin Harris.

However, the BBC shows no sign of responding to industry calls to bring "Top of the Pops" back as a weekly show.
