The BBC has been criticized by its editorial complaints unit over its coverage of U2 for its "No Line On The Horizon" (Mercury/Universal) campaign.

The publicly funded U.K. broadcaster breached guidelines by using a "U2=BBC" on-screen graphic in connection with the coverage across BBC networks on Feb. 27, 2009. The band played sets broadcast by the BBC including a rooftop gig on Broadcasting House in central London as part of dedicated coverage for the album launch.

The BBC also broke rules with its "Radio 1 presents Coldplay" Web site because it had a link to ticket agents for the band's tour.
