Contrary to what was reported by Bloomberg last week, Spotify says it is not targeting a U.S. launch in the third quarter. A company spokesperson told Music Ally the official estimate is "later this year." Although it did not quote an executive or spokesperson, Bloomberg reported that Spotify aims to launch in the U.S. in the third quarter.

What is known about a U.S. launch? CEO Daniel Ek told Billboard in February the company had signed a data center contract and is making a "huge investment in servers and all the infrastructure here in the U.S." No timeline was given, but Ek did say a U.S. launch was "looking pretty good." Ek also said Spotify will have a download partner in place for its U.S. launch.
