Cyndi Lauper will be honored with the chairman's award for sustained career achievement at the upcoming National Assn. of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) convention, to be held May 15-17 in Chicago.

Lauper, who will receive the honor at the convention's closing night award dinner, has sold more than 25 million albums over the years.

She is currently working on a new studio album, a set of blues covers that will be released this June. The singer is also writing an autobiography that will be published by Simon & Schuster later this year.
