Univision is planning a slew of shows produced or co-produced by its new content creation unit, Univision Studios, for the 2010-11 TV season, including weekday primetime telenovela "Eva Luna," as well as a dancing and an island reality show.

At Univision Communications' upfront event in midtown Manhattan on Thursday afternoon, the Spanish-language media giant will unveil more than 20 new programs across its TV networks and online, including new product from longtime partner Televisa in Mexico.

The very first Univision Studios production is "Eva Luna" on the Univision network, which is made in collaboration with Venevision. The love/suspense series centers on advertising executive Eva Gonzalez, who finds the love of her life and is then led to believe that he murdered her father. Set in Southern California, it stars Guy Ecker and Blanca Soto.

Sunday primetime will see Univision focus on reality shows. It will launch a dance competition show called "Mira Quien Baila" (Look Who's Dancing) from Univision Studios in co-production with Endemol and a "Survivor"-type show called "Desafio: La Gran Batalla" (The Challenge -- The Big Battle) from Univision Studios and BETV.

The dancing competition partners 10 celebrities and 10 dancers and brings together "the three things Hispanics love -- music, dancing and celebrities," according to the company.

In the latter show, contestants are stranded on a tropical island with bare necessities and divided into three teams competing against each other for the luxury of sleep at a posh residence and, ultimately, a grand prize. Host is actor Michel Brown.

For the Internet, Univision Studios and Univision Interactive Media are planning Webnovela "No Me Hallo" (Finding Myself) with Mexican music star Jenni Rivera, who also recently announced a deal with competitor Telemundo's mun2 network for a reality show featuring her daughter and the daughter's best friend. In the Univision romantic comedy for the Web, Rivera plays a woman who constantly changes jobs.

Thursday's upfront presentation for Univision, Telefutura and Galavision will feature comments from Univision president and CEO Joe Uva, Univision Networks president Cesar Conde and president of advertising sales and marketing David Lawenda, plus a musical performance by a mystery Latin superstar.

The event will also highlight the growing power of Spanish and the critical role language plays in marketing strategies.

-- "El Gran Show" (The Big Show), a Sunday primetime entertainment/variety show from Univision Studios and Imagina US described as "an all-out excitement extravaganza." "Each step the contestants take can lead to loads of cash or totally outrageous situations," according to the network.

--"Llevatelo Todo" (Grab It All), a weekend primetime show that lets four contestants go on the wildest shopping spree of their lives without spending a cent.

-- "Cuna de Lobos" (Cradle of Wolves), a weekly primetime series from
Televisa International that reimagines a popular 1980s Mexican novela about a woman who will stop at nothing to inherit her husband's business.

-- "Llena de Amor" (Big on Love), a weekday primetime novela and modern-day ugly duckling story. Only one person sees how beautiful the protagonist really is, but "he's in for a BIG surprise," the network description reads.

-- "Los Exitosos Perez" (The Successful Perez), a weekly primetime comedy from Endemol USA Latino about Martin and Soledad Perez, who are the perfect couple on and off the anchor desk. But each of them is having an affair with someone else, and Martin is replaced by an impostor after an accident.

-- "Bicentenario" (Bicentennial), a primetime special to commemorate 200 years of Mexican independence.

-- "Divas Latinas" (Latin Divas), a primetime special in partnership with Estefan Enterprises that will bring female stars in the Latin entertainment industry together on one stage.

Highlights from the 2010-11 programming plans for the Telefutura network:

-- "India," the recipient of the 2009 International Emmy Award for best telenovela that is a love story about the clash between different cultures and traditions.

-- "Dona Bella" (Beautiful Lady), ,ased on the book of the same name about a woman who falls in love with a member of a prominent yet conservative family and after being dealt several blows sets out to take revenge.

-- "Rosario Tijeras," based on a novel and film. The series description
reads, "Her beauty hides a not-so-pretty secret from the two men who can't live without her -- best friends who will face off for her love and in the process be dragged into a world they wish they had never known."

-- "Regreso a la Guaca" (Return to the Guaca), based on a true story. This miniseries centers on a group of soldiers who come across a hidden fortune and decide to keep the money for themselves.

-- Movies: Blockbusters from "Angels and Demons" and "The Bourne Supremacy" to "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" and "Shangai Noon" come to the network.

-- "Quiero Ser Estrella" (I Want to Be a Star), a special that gives a group of young people an opportunity to make their biggest dreams come true.

Galavision plans the following content for the new TV season:

-- "El Peso del Matrimonio" (Back in Wedding Shape), a reality show where two people who have been married for several years get a counselor and a fitness expert to rekindle their relationship.

-- "Detras del Saber" (In Search of Knowledge), a show that shows how things work and how they are manufactured. Topics range from the flight of an airplane to the making of a wine cork and the strength of a shark bite.

-- "Una Hora en Alerta" (One Hour on Alert), described as "60 Minutes" on steroids. Countdowns leading up to historic events, explorations of extreme speed and power and great rescues of our time are featured.

-- "Alla Afuera" (Out There), first-person accounts from filmmakers,
visionary researchers and explorers, writers and photographers, who reveal why they risk everything in the pursuit of capturing the perfect story.
