Finnish mobile developer Steam Republic unveiled a new mobile app designed for artists on tour, called Mobile Backstage. It’s a social-focused app created to let artists and fans interact in real time, used so far by Dizzee Rascal, You Me At Six and Enter Shikari.
From the release:
Mobile Backstage helps artists to quickly and easily create a unique mobile presence that fans can download for free from either a website or mobile app store. Once loaded, fans can begin communicating directly with the artist and other fans, sharing their experiences by uploading content and ‘checking in’ to gigs using GPS. Mobile Backstage also integrates with major social networks and digital music stores.
The app works with Twitter and Facebook, and provides data analytics to participating labels and artists. It’s available now only as an iPhone app, but expects to expand to Android and Blackberry devices later this year. Also planned: In-app ticket and merchandising sales features.
Billboard’s Music App Awards is taking place Oct. 5 in San Francisco, honoring the most innovative mobile music apps of the year. Deadline to submit your app for consideration is July 30. Apply Now.
