Nominations to Argentina's annual Gardel Music Awards (Premios Gardel) had a touch of nostalgia.

Rocker Gustavo Cerati, who is in a coma, leads with seven nominations. Cerati's nominations are on the strength of his album "Fuerza Natural," up for album of the year award, rock album of the year, best cover design, best engineering and production of the year. The song "Deja Vu" was also nominated for song of the year.

Cerati has been in a coma since collapsing during a concert in Venezuela this past May.

Following in number of nominations is the late Mercedes Sosa, with four nods for her albums "Cantora 1" and "Cantora 2," which garnered nominations for best folk female artist, production of the year, album of the year and best DVD.

Cuarteto de Nos also garnered four nominations.

Although Universal singer/songwriter Axel had three nods, he competes head to head with Sosa and Cerati in the album of the year category (for "Todo mi Universo") and against Cerati and Cuartego de Nos in the Song of the year award.

The Gardel Awards are organized by Argentina's chamber of Record Producers (CAPIF) and voted upon by an academy of industry professionals, artists and journalists. This year, awards will be given in 35 categories.

Last year's Premios Gardel ceremony was canceled due to concerns over the swine flu. The date for the 2010 ceremony has yet to be announced.
