CES was meant to be the big coming out party for the Muve mobile music service from Cricket Wireless, but those plans have been put on hold. The conference would have been the perfect launch pad as Las Vegas was meant to be one of the first markets where the service would be made available. The company now says the launch will be delayed until later this month, in Vegas, with additional cities added in February.

According to AllThingsD, there are still some bugs in the service that have kept it from going prime time. This is not the first delay for the service. Cricket kept moving around the official announcement of the service late last year, and launch dates juggled from early January to sometime in the first quarter, depending on the day.

This is, however, not unusual for new service launches, particularly in wireless. While the PR effort certainly takes a hit, the bigger issue is whether the service works in the long term.
