Don Omar's "Danza Kuduro," featuring Lucenzo, remained at the top of Billboard's Hot Latin Songs for the 13th consecutive week, establishing itself as the first major Latin hit of 2011.
Released last Fall, "Danza Kuduro" has steadily gained momentum in radio and online reaching No. 1 on the Billboard issue dated Nov. 13 and has stayed there ever since. The track is also No. 1 on the Tropical songs and Latin Rhythm songs chart. It's at No. 6 on the Latin digital songs chart, where Shakira remains firmly entrenched at No. 1 with "Waka Waka."
On the Top Latin Albums chart, Christian Castro's "Viva El Príncipe" (Universal Music Latino), his homage to Mexican singer José José, remained at No. 1 for the second consecutive week.
It was the end of a slow January for Latin, with no album selling more than 5,000 copies in the past three weeks. Those numbers should turn around with Wisin & Yandel's "Los Vaqueros: El Regreso" (Machete/Unviersal) coming on Jan. 25 and expected to soar easily to No. 1 on the chart. That set will be followed up by Ricky Martin's "M.A.S." (Sony), out Feb. 1.
