Jose Valle has been named president of Univision Radio, the company announced today.
Valle, a veteran radio executive, was most recently VP and general manager of Univision Radio Los Angeles, overseeing stations KLVE-FM , KSCA-FM, KTNQ-AM and KRCD/KRCV-FM. Valle's appointment is immediate, reporting to Peter Walker, president of Univision Local Media.
Valle has a long history in Spanish-language radio, beginning, as it turns out, at KLVE and KTNQ. His many posts included serving as VP and general manager of various radio stations, including Univision precursor Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation's stations in Las Vegas. Prior to joining Univision a year ago, he was president and general manager for KVEA, Telemundo's flagship television station in Los Angeles.
Valle takes over the position vacated by longtime Univision Radio president Gary Stone, who left the company at the end of 2010. This is the latest in a series of upper management changes at Univision Communications. Most recently, the company's CEO, Joe Uva, announced he would step down April 2. No successor has been announced.
