Longtime radio staple Rick Dees, the host of the internationally syndicated "The Rick Dees Weekly Top 40," returns to a Los Angeles-based morning show on rhythmic adult contemporary station Hot 92.3 on May 4.

"Rick Dees in the Morning" will include some of the host's classic radio bits including "Candid Phone," "Dees Sleaze" and "Joke of the Day."

Since the 1980s, the host has made his mark as a radio personality starting with KIIS-FM, where he spent more than two decades doing his show for thousands of commuters, many of them Latino.

He is one of the best voices to ever grace the airwaves," says Paty "Longlegs" Lopez, a former Dees co-host. "I can only think of how excited Angelinos are going to be starting their day with Rick."

The radio veteran has received many awards for his work, including the Marconi Award, National Radio Hall of Fame Award, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Billboard Radio Personality of the Year.

"Rick is synonymous with radio in Los Angeles," Clear Channel Los Angeles market manager/president Greg Ashlock said in a statement. "This genre of music is perfect for him as he introduced many of these artists that ultimately paralleled his career path of popularity."

The radio host will throw out the first pitch at the Dodgers/Cubs game at Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium on 12:10 p.m. after his debut show in May.
