The 2011 edition of the Billboard Latin Music Awards, presented by State Farm, which aired live April 28 on Telemundo, delivered the highest ratings ever in the network's 13-year history of presenting the show.
According to Nielsen Media Research, the awards show, which honored the top artists in Latin music, reached nearly 6.6 million total viewers.
The awards featured performances by a long list of superstars, including Don Omar -- whose appearance included a vignette inspired by the film "Fast 5" -- Marc Anthony, Mana, Enrique Iglesias, Camila, Luis Fonsi, Pitbull, Cristian Castro, Jose Jose and Gloria Trevi, among others.
In turn, the award pre-show, "Alfombra Billboard," delivered 1,284,000 total viewers. The pre-show and award telecast combined reached nearly 7 million viewers.
At a local level, the Billboard Latin Music Awards was No. 1 in its 8-11 p.m. time period regardless of language in both New York and Miami among adults 18-49. In Miami, it was the most viewed show of its time slot.
