Michelle Ebanks, president of Essence Communications, has been named to the additional, newly created post of president of People en Español, effective immediately. Ebanks has spent 15 years with Time Inc. and directed the acquisition and development of Essence. Her new role puts her at the front of the leading Spanish language magazine in the country.
At the same time, Monique Manso, the former VP of sales for Time Inc., was appointed publisher for People en Espanol, also effective immediately. Manso had joined Time in 2007 as corporate sales director.
She takes over the post vacated by Lucia Ballas Traynor, who stepped down in March to run a new website for mothers launched by CafeMom.
