MTV Latin America has announced the cast of their new telenovela, " Popland," a soap about the world of paparazzi featuring actors from Latin America and the United States.
The cast includes Jon Ecker of the U.S., Manuela Gonzalez of Colombia and Sara Cobo and Ricardo Abarca of Mexico, among others, in a scripted series that marks only the second time MTV Latin America produces a Spanish-language soap.
Shot in studios and on location in Colombia, the telenovela will premiere in the fall and will air on Tr3s: MTV, Musica y Mas in the U.S.; MTV Spain and MTV Italy. The program includes 70 one-hour-long episodes in high definition.
"After the incredible success of 'Niñas Mal,' we decided to give our audience more of this genre bringing them a fresh new story in the same cutting edge style MTV is known for," said Fernando Gaston, MTV Networks Latin America's senior vice president of content, creative and music, in a written statement. " 'Popland' will captivate viewers throughout Latin America, the U.S. and Europe."
The series, written by Argentinean script writers Marcelo Camaño and Claudia Bono, follows the story of 18-year old Carla who moves to a big city to work at a celebrity gossip website.
