Sony's Qriocity Music Unlimited Now Available on Android Devices

Sony's Qriocity Music Unlimited music subscription service is finally available on the mobile phone.

Both the basic and premium tiers of the service are now available via an Android app in all markets where it is operational. Previously, the Music Unlimited service was available only on the PlayStation3 and on various Internet-enabled Sony devices, like Blu-Ray players, Bravia TVs and personal computers.

Pricing for the service remains the same-$4 a month for the basic service, which offers both programmed and personalized Internet radio stations, a well as a scan-and-match music locker-and a $10 a month premium option for on-demand streaming of the entire catalog.

There's no caching feature, however, meaning mobile users can only access the service while in cellular or WiFi coverage. That puts it at a significant disadvantage when compared to other mobile on-demand music services like Rhapsody, MOG and Rdio, all of which have a feature that allows for offline playback of songs.
