Topspin Media CEO is host of an online show called "This Week in Music" and the second episode is now ready for viewing. Good stuff if you can get through a 52-minute YouTube video -- although that might be difficult during the middle of a work day.
Rogers' guests are Ticketmaster CEO Nathan Hubbard, who offers great insights into his career and the Ticketmaster brand, and Topspin Media co-founder Shamal Ranasinghe and KCRW's/music supervisor Chris Douridas. If you want to hear just Hubbard overview of Ticketmaster and the ticketing marketplace, skip to 24:30. To hear talk about pricing ticket, go to 29:20. Hubbard discusses the use of data and analytics tools at 33:15. At 37:20 he gets into the reasons tickets go unsold and talks about the value of Facebook integration at 38:15. All-in ticket pricing is discussed at 42:20 ("I think that is absolutely where the industry should go," says Hubbard).
The "This Week in Music" is part of the "This Week In" http://thisweekin.com/ Web television network that has shows on venture capital, startups, comedy and many other topics. It was founded by entrepreneur Jason Calcanis, actor/comedian Kevin Pollack and entrepreneur Mark Jeffrey. Calcanis founded the search engine Mahalo and Jeffrey was its CTO. Prior to Mahalo, Calcanis founded Weblogs, Inc., which was sold to AOL in 2005.
