Pop singer Shakira's foundation Pies Descalzos and FC Barcelona are partnering in support of at-risk youth through a new soccer programs that will include the construction of sports facilities in Cartagena, Colombia, and Miami.

The Soccer for Youth Development and Healthy Living campaign will focus on Hispanic children who are at high risk of social exclusion.

"Not only do we represent the largest minority in the country, but the fastest growing," Shakira said in a prepared statement. "Our community is in urgent need to provide all the necessary tools so that our children can develop their maximum potentials, talents and intelligence."

Estimates by the organization indicate that the program will reach about 28,000 children, many of them living in poverty, in their surrounding communities in the United States and Colombia.
