L.A. Reid has shed another senior Sony executive in his new assignment as chairman and CEO of Epic Records. Sources say that Kevin Lawrie--who had been operating as the label's chief operating officer, although his appointment was never officially announced-left the building last Friday (Oct. 21).

His departure follows the August exit of Tom Carrabba, the former Jive executive VP/GM who was supposed to hold that same position at Epic and even moved his office down to the label from the Jive floor. But after two months working at Epic, Carrabba was let go in August.

At press time, an Epic spokesperson had not responded to Billboard.biz's requests for comment.

Is Sylvia Rhone Headed to Sony to Restart Portrait Records?

Since L.A. Reid joined Epic, Sony has been providing him with managerial talent from its ranks, "and it looks like L.A. is trying them on like a suit," says one source familiar with the changes at Sony. "I guess he hasn't found a good fit yet."
