Pianist, songwriter and arranger Arthur Hanlon will star in his own TV special for the Spanish Broadcasting System taping this week in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The show will feature other big names in Latin music including Laura Pausini, Obie Bermúdez, Cheo Feliciano, Natalia Jiménez and Marc Anthony.
The production, "Encanto Del Caribe," is being taped at the renowned Fuerte San Cristóbal and will air at a yet-to-be announced date in the United States and Latin America, including the Miami-based Mega TV, in addition to public TV stations throughout the U.S. and Latin America.
"This is exactly what we wanted to present, a cultural and musical convergence, and it has been achieved thanks to the participation of all of the artists involved," Hanlon said during a press conference this week. "The Fuerte San Cristóbal is ... magical."
The special will also include performances by actors, mimes and acrobats in addition to musical artists Bernie Williams and Ana Isabelle.
During the press conference on Wednesday, Hanlon met with several government officials in Puerto Rico and was also joined by Raúl Alarcón, president and CEO of SBS, who was on hand to speak about the production which will include more than 40 Puerto Rican musicians directed by Cucco Peña. The special is being directed by Alejandro Santiago and produced by SBS and Juan Buso.
A CD/DVD will also be available and is being produced by Julio Reyes-Copello for Universal Music Latino, Hanlon's label.
