Shakira, Tito El Bambino, Maná, Prince Royce, Ricky Martin, Alejandra Guzman and Larry Hernandez are among the artists nominated for the 24th annual Premio Lo Nuestro music awards, to be held at Miami's American Airlines Arena on Feb. 16.
Shakira, competing in six categories, is nominated for pop song of the year, pop album of the year and pop female artist of the year. Tito El Bambino also enters the competition with six nominations, including tropical song of the year, tropical album of the year and tropical male artist of the year.
Mexican rock band Maná received five nominations, including artist of the year and rock/alternative album of the year. Prince Royce, also competing in five categories, is competing for tropical contemporary artist of the year, urban song of the year (shared with Daddy Yankee) and tropical song of the year.
Artists competing in four categories include Ricky Martin, Natalia Jimenez, Wisin y Yandel, Alejandra Guzman, Don Omar and Larry Hernandez. Nominated each for three awards includes Juanes, Daddy Yankee, Gerardo Ortíz, Gloria Trevi, Intocable, Joan Sebastian, La Arrolladora Banda el Limón de René Camacho, Reik, Romeo Santos, Voz de Mano and Zoé.
The competition features nominees in 35 categories including pop, tropical, regional Mexican, rock/alternative and urban based on the eligibility period from Oct. 1, 2010, to Sept. 30, 2011.
Nominations are based on data by Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems. Winners will be determined by popular vote from Dec. 1 through Dec. 21 at 11:59 p.m. (ET) at PremioLoNuestro.com. The show airs 8-11 p.m. (ET) on Univision.
