Digitalmusic.org (DMO,) NARM's hub for digital music initiatives, announced their first Affiliate Partners earlier today.
They are: the American Association of Independemnt Music (A2IM), the American Foundation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI®), the Harry Fox Agency (HFA), the ng Connect Program, the Recording Academy®, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), SESAC, and SoundExchange.
"This is a huge first step toward our goal of creating a well-rounded coalition of digital-music heavy-hitters that will work collectively for the advancement of the music business online," Bill Wilson, DMO Vice President of Digital Strategy and Business Development said in a statement. "We've already sercured a strong cross-section of the industry, with trade and professional associations and societies, artist unions, performance rights organizations, and collectives that address rights management, licensing, and royalty payments all represented. We're also talking to a variety of other organizations that will help us extend our reach further."
The Partnership will allow the nine companies opportunities to engage in music commerce discussion and develop an active role in DMO's programs, including divisions in archival & contextual metadata, digital supply chain, apps, music & gaming, music subscription and product development.
