In line with the ever-expanding global popularity of electronic dance music, this year's Ibiza International Music Summit (IMS) is shaping up to be the biggest yet.
Chief among the first names confirmed to appear at the annual dance music convention are Grammy nominated producer Diplo and Chic's Nile Rodgers, who will both hold keynote artist interviews. Tatiana Simonian, Twitter's head of music partnerships will also deliver a keynote discussion at the annual dance convention, held 23-25 May at Ibiza Gran Hotel. The event, which is now in its fifth edition, will also feature French DJ Francois Kevorkian, aka Francois K, host what is being dubbed by organizers as the world record-breaking longest panel of all time. Joining him at the 7-hour-long "World According to FK" panel will be Daniel Miller, founder of U.K. independent label Mute, dubstep pioneer Martyn and Radio Slave, otherwise known as techno DJ Matt Edwards.
Other guests confirmed to appear at IMS, which this year has the theme "Connections Count," is Paul Oakenfold, who will be talking about his experiences in Hollywood, EDM producer and DJ Seth Troxler and U.K. urban star Professor Green, who will be discussing brand endorsements. Luciano, Loco Dice, Cream founder James Barton, Defected Records Simon Dunmore, YouTube's director of video partnerships Patrick Walker, Spotify's artist in residence D.A. Wallach and Jho Oakley, manager of U.K. dance duo Chase & Status will also participate in seminars and panels. Veteran British DJ Carl Cox will, meanwhile, be honored at the IMS Legends Dinner, hosted by IMS co founder Pete Tong.
"IMS is so excited about this year's line-up starting with the news of Nile Rodgers coming to Ibiza to talk about his incredible history at a crucial time for him," said IMS co-founder and partner Ben Turner.
"Aside from this, we have visionaries from Twitter, You Tube, Vice and Foursquare coming, plus the strongest artist speakers we've had in five years," Turner went on to say, adding, "Electronic music is in a huge position of strength, so this year's theme is Connections Count, as we open the doors to some of the biggest partnership companies around. Come to IMS Ibiza and make it count."
