Gerardo Ortiz, who has been announced for 2012's Billboard Latin Music Conference, was the big winner at last year's Billboard Mexican Music Awards.
Recording artists Gerardo Ortiz and 3BallMTY are scheduled to appear on a panel about the new wave of regional Mexican music during an in-depth discussion at the Billboard Latin Music Conference and Awards in Miami, April 23 to 26.
The panel, taking place at the JW Marriott Marquis, will explore themes around the music from the perspective of a new generation of regional Mexican acts tapping into a bicultural and bilingual demographic that's helping the genre grow in ways not seen previously from new styles of music to new business models.
The teams behind Ortiz and 3BallMTY are also participating. including Angel Del Villar, founder of Del Records and Luis Del Villar, president of Del Records, the small Downey-Calif.-based label that has discovered many of its acts on YouTube, including Ortiz.

Jose Serrano of Latin Power Music and producer/mixer Toy Selectah will also give insights to 3BallMTY's rise in music that has become popular thanks to the sound known as "tribal guarachero." Like Ortiz, their music has had major presence on the Billboard charts thanks to the compositions of djs Erick Rincon, Sergio Zavala (Sheeqo Beat) and Albert Presenda (DJ Otto).
Ortiz, a singer/songwriter known as the new "King of Corridos" has become a major player in the music industry and was the most awarded winner at the first Billboard Mexican Music Awards with six prizes, including Artist of the Year and New Artist of the Year. His album "Entre Dios y el Diablo" ("Between God and the Devil") debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart and has remained on the top 10 of the Billboard Regional Mexican Albums chart for 25 weeks.
Ortiz brings a new style of music known as "progressive corridos," covering everything from romantic ballads to themes around Mexico's drug wars.

3BallMTY's song "Intentalo," featuring El Bebeto and America Sierra, is currently No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Songs charts and No. 3 on the Billboard Regional Mexican Songs chart.
Ortiz and 3BallMTY join previously announced international superstar Pitbull, the female leading act of regional Mexican music Jenni Rivera, and music mogul Emilio Estefan who are also scheduled to participate in the Billboard Latin Music Conference, presented by State Farm, which brings together Latin music artists and Latin music industry influencers for panel discussions, showcases, networking opportunities, and The Billboard Latin Music Marketing Awards.
