Steve Pokorny, a production manager at Universal Music Group who had previously worked in production for Warner Music Group, died March 12 at the age of 50.
Pokorny joined Universal in 2004 after serving seven years doing mastering work for Warner's Rhino Entertainment, working with artists such as De La Soul, Jackson Browne and Richard Pryor. He is survived by his wife, Syfy publicity director Brenda Lowry, and four-year-old son Anthony. Born in Germany but growing up in different areas up and down the East Coast before settling in Los Angeles, where he lived for thirty years.
In addition to his industry positions, Pokorny was a drummer and lover of photography. His death was reportedly due to complications stemming from knee surgery.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 23 at 12:30 pm at the Church of the Hills in Los Angeles.
