On the heels of a major summer tour with Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesias, Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel have also signed on to appear on their own "Unplugged" special on MTV Tr3s, according to a spokesperson for the cable network.
Tr3s GM Jose Tillan announced the special on Wednesday night during an upfront presentation in New York along with a slate of other programs previously reported on Billboard.biz.
The Wisin & Yandel "Unplugged" program will be produced in 2013 as part of the franchise, which includes "Juanes Unplugged," featuring the Colombian singer/songwriter who performed at the upfront presentation. The Juanes special premiers on May 28 at 9 p.m. and his album goes on sale globally on May 29, according to Tr3s officials.
"We are proud to welcome this ground breaking duo into our 'Unplugged' franchise and we can not wait to see how they plan to attack the Unplugged Format," Tr3s head of talent Marc Zimet said in a statement. "I'm sure they will bring it to a whole new level as they celebrate their past and give us a glimpse into their exciting future."
Last month it was announced that Iglesias, Lopez and Wisin & Yandel will be going on a summer tour promoted by AEG Live and presented by State Farm. The tour, which has been extended, starts in Montreal on July 14.
Ahead of the tour Wisin & Yandel will release the album, "Lideres," in June. Lopez, Chris Brown and T-Pain are featured on the project.
