On the most recent installment of This Week in Music, Topspin's Ian Rogers talks with Ime Archibong, strategic partner manager at Facebook, Jordan Walker, U.S. Label and Artist Relations rep at Spotify, and Julie Perry, VP, social media director, BLASTmedia, about the different ways musicians and artists can market themselves using social media.

Archibong mentioned Facebook's open graph software, and that its launch alongside Spotify removed many of the barriers that users faced when sharing music. Walker -- who describes his role within Spotify as helping artists figure out ways to market themselves -- says the company drives more people to listen to more music, and to hear music they might not have paid attention to otherwise through friends and tastemakers. Perry, meanwhile, stressed the social capabilities of YouTube, with an artist's channel acting as a hub for social interaction that can help optimize the videos that they upload.
