The National Assn. of Record Industry Professionals (NARIP) is holding a tribute dinner for Al Schlesinger, the entertainment lawyer, on Sept. 12 at the Sportsman's Lodge in Studio City, California. Tickets cost $60, and are on sale here. Tess Taylor, who heads up the associating is requesting stories or photos of Schlesinger be e-mailed to her, email@example.com with Schlesinger in the subject line.
Schlesenger, who has served as chairman and president of the National Academy of Recording Arts, back in 1987-1988, is a past president of the California Copyright Conference and a founding member of the International Entertainment Lawyers Assn. He currently teaches a music business course at Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts in Winter Park, Florida.
NARAS is drumming up attendance for the event by asking: What do The Doors, Melissa Etheridge, The Beach Boys, Toto, Bread, Clint Eastwood, T-Bone Burnett, Ike & Tina Turner, Buck Owens, Neal Hefti and Tori Amos have in common? The answer is Schlesinger. As to how that is, you will have to attend the event to find out.
