Robbie Williams Tops UK Album and Singles Chart
Robbie Williams Tops UK Album and Singles Chart

Robbie Williams is celebrating a double victory in the U.K. charts, starting a second week atop the singles survey with "Candy" and debuting at No. 1 with the album "Take The Crown" (Universal Island). It's the tenth chart-topping title of a solo career in which Williams has sold more than 15 million albums in his home country.

"Take The Crown" thus extends a sequence that began with his first solo release "Life Thru A Lens" in 1997. The new set is part of an all-new top three this week, with Dutch violin maestro Andre Rieu in at No. 2 with "Magic of the Movies" (Decca/Universal), with the Johann Strauss Orchestra, and pop band JLS at No. 3 with their fourth album "Evolution" (RCA/Sony Music Entertainment).

The only non-new title in the top five was last week's No. 1, Calvin Harris' "18 Months" (Columbia/Sony Music Entertainment), which fell to No. 4. The Military Wives, the choir that topped the chart with its "In My Dreams" debut set in March and then had a No. 1 single backing Gary Barlow on the Diamond Jubilee track "Sing," returned at No. 5 with the sophomore album "Stronger Together" (Decca/Universal). A banner week for the Decca label also included a No. 10 debut for Andrea Bocelli's "Opera." On the compilation chart, "BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge 2012" (Sony Music/UMTV/Rhino) started a second week at No. 1.

"Candy" stayed at the singles summit with 90,000 new sales, ahead of the track that preceded it at No. 1, Labrinth's "Beneath Your Beautiful" (Syco Music/Sony Music Entertainment), featuring Emeli Sandé (85,000). The Wanted delivered a seventh top three hit in just over two years with "I Found You" (Global Talent/Universal Island) at No. 3.

Singer-rapper Misha B, a graduate of the 2011 series of "The X Factor," landed her first top ten single with "Do You Think Of Me" (Relentless/RCA/Sony Music Entertainment) at No. 9, while Rita Ora raced 47-10 with "Shine Ya Light" (Roc Nation/Columbia/Sony Music Entertainment) after performing it on "The X Factor" Nov. 4. Ora has sung on three No. 1 U.K. singles this year, as guest on DJ Fresh's "Hot Right Now" (Ministry of Sound) and her own "R.I.P.," featuring Tinie Tempah, and "How We Do (Party)."
