Dr. Luke Signs Label Deal With Sony, Doug Morris Calls Hitmaker His 'New Jimmy' Iovine

Vivendi has signed off on a deal that lets Universal Music Group chairman Doug Morris out of his contract on June 30, six months ahead of its original ending date at the end of this year, a source close to the situation told Billboard.biz.

While Hits is reporting that Morris will leave the building at the end of this week, the source said Morris won't be able to move over to Sony Music Entertainment until after June 30. At that time, Morris is expected to fill the shoes of Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, whose contract as chairman of Sony Music Entertainment ends on March 31.
