Mercury Records Nashville and StyleSonic Records, which was formed last year by Tim McGraw and his longtime producer Byron Gallimore, have teamed up on a joint venture for new band Halfway to Hazard.

The band will be a Mercury/StyleSonic act with marketing shared by both companies, promotion handled by Mercury and distribution handled by Universal. Gallimore and McGraw produced the band's debut.

Halfway to Hazard is comprised of longtime friends David Tolliver and Chad Warrix. Both hail from the coal-country of Eastern Kentucky, just outside of Hazard, Ky.

The band's first single "Daisy," co-written by Tolliver, Warrix and Anthony Smith, is at No. 60 on Billboard's Hot Country Song chart.

While there's no official word, it's believed that the band will open for McGraw and Faith Hill on their Soul2Soul 2007 tour.
