Promotion veteran Bruce Shindler has been named VP of national promotion for Mercury Nashville. He replaces John Ettinger, who exits the company.

Concurrently, Universal Music Group Nashville director of radio marketing Katie Dean rises to the newly created position of VP for that department. Both Shindler and Dean report to UMGN executive VP of national promotion Bill Catino.

Shindler, who most recently served as VP of promotion for UMGN, joined the company in 2003 when Dreamworks was purchased by UMG. He served as VP of promotion for Dreamworks until the label shut down in 2005. He previously owned his own independent promotion/marketing company, Shindler-Turner Promotions. A 35-year radio promotion veteran, Shindler has also held positions with RCA and MTM Records.

Dean has been with UMG for two years, with past experience at Lyric Street Records and monitoring service Mediabase.

Ettinger had been with Mercury since 1994, first serving as Midwest regional promoter, then becoming VP in 2000.
