Based on preliminary numbers from Nielsen Media Research, ABC’s telecast of the 41st annual Country Music Association Awards led the network to deliver its largest Wednesday audience and top adult 18-49 rating on the night in a year.

ABC topped second-place CBS on the evening by 4.4 million viewers (averaging 15.9 million vs. 11.5 million) and by 74% in adults 18-49. Last year’s show averaged an almost duplicate 15.96 million viewers. ABC ranked No. 1 during each half-hour of the night in both total viewers and adults 18-49. The network also took top honors with adults 25-54 and 18-34, as well as ranking at the top with teens 12-17 and kids 2-11.

Excluding sports, the CMA Awards generated ABC’s highest women 18-49 rating on the evening in more than two years.
