Country star Trace Adkins was bested by British tabloid editor and "America's Got Talent" judge Piers Morgan in the finale of NBC's "The Celebrity Apprentice."
Show host and judge Donald Trump announced the winner at the end of a two-hour episode, which aired Thursday.
Morgan's charity, the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which supports members of the Armed Forces and their families, will receive $250,000 as a result of his win.
Adkins performed "You're Gonna Miss This," which is currently at No. 2 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs, live on the show. For the next two weeks, a live version of the song is available for download at iTunes.com, with proceeds benefiting his charity, FAAN (Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network). Adkins' six-year-old daughter is afflicted with food allergies.
Adkins was a favorite among many of the other dozen contestants, which included Tiffany Fallon, Gene Simmons, Carol Alt, Stephen Baldwin and Marilu Henner, among others. All but Simmons, who was filming a movie in Japan, returned for the finale.
While Trump called Adkins a "special guy" and "a friend," he ultimately rewarded Morgan for his fundraising abilities at various charity events, including a concert and auction in New York that featured the Backstreet Boys.
