With the ultimate plan of bringing his NYC venue Santos Party House to Norway, party monster Andrew W.K. hosted the official pre-party and preview on Friday night (Nov. 18) for the upcoming 2012 World Snowboarding Championships in Oslo, Norway.
After enjoying an open bar and hors d'oeuvres, W.K. took the stage to premiere the video for his new track "Go Go Go Go," which was written as a collaborative effort between W.K. and a few pro snowboarders, and will serve as the theme song for the WSC. Henning Anderson, the CEO of WSC, also took the stage to introduce some of the top riders in the world who will be competing in February: Terje Haakonsen, Benji Farrow, Chas Guldemond, Jamie Lynn, and 14-year old female rider Ty Walker, who each said a few words.
After the video's premiere, W.K. returned to the stage, but this time with a backing band that included Anderson on guitar, to rip through a short set that started with "Go Go Go Go" and ended with -- but of course -- the anthemic "Party Hard."
Before the event, Billboard.biz spoke with W.K. about his WSC collab, which he revealed couldn't have happened without Happy Tom of the notorious Norwegian punk band Turbonegro -- who made a rare US appearance, playing Santos later that night. Tom brought all parties together re: "Go Go Go Go" and the snowboarding world.
Also in attendance was Hilde Rasch, the WSC event director, and Jerry Graham, director of publicity at the Syndicate, who worked with W.K. on the event.
