Leila Cobo, Billboard's executive director of Latin Content & Programming, is promoting the release of her new novel, " The Second Time We Met," with a book tour that began at Books & Books in Miami and continues with stops in Fort Lauderdale, New York, Baltimore, Los Angeles, Chicago and and elsewhere.

Some 100 people, including many music-industry executives and several artists, attended Cobo's book launch Feb. 29 at Books & Books in Coral Gables. Those in attendance included singer/songwriter Luis Fonsi, Sony/ATV's Jorge Mejia, Republica CEO Jorge Plasencia, El Nuevo Herald columnist Olga Connor, Universal Music's Carlos Perez, EMI's David Alvarado, Warner Music's Andres Wolff, singer/songwriter Juliana Barrios, Telemundo's Pilar Lamadrid and Mari Carballes, and Media Concept's Alberto Gomez.

"It feels like a Billboard Latin Music Conference in here," Cobo joked before reading an excerpt from her book (which has nothing to do with music or the music industry). Cobo's second novel with Grand Central Publishing, "The Second Time We Met" tells the story of a young Colombian girl who gives up her child for adoption, and of the child-adored and nurtured by his adoptive family in California-who 20 years later returns to look for her and tries to untangle his past.

On March 7, Cobo continued her book tour in New York with a signing hosted by Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism and the University chapter of the National Chapter of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), where she answered student questions on the writing process, the road to publishing and the parallels between journalism and fiction writing. Those in attendance included BMI's Porfirio Pina, Nuevo Mundo Music Group's Herman Rodriguez-Bajandas and Billboard's Tommy Page and Thom Duffy. On the 21st, Cobo's book signing at Barnes & Noble in Los Angeles included Enrique Iglesias manager Fernando Giaccardi, Cristian Castro manager Walter Kolm, Universal Music Publishing Latin America's Eddie Fernandez and ASCAP's Alexandra Lioutik.
