"This is an artist Warner Bros. Records is going to break." So declared label exec. VP of A&R Jeff Fenster -- greeted by exuberant applause -- as he introduced singer/songwriter LP. The occasion: the June 1 kickoff of the label's second annual "WBR Summer Sessions" concert series.
Taking their places on the patio of the label's ski shalet-styled Burbank, Calif. headquarters, LP and her five-piece band revved up a lively afternoon set. Chowing down on Mexican fare accompanied by the requisite margaritas, beer and other beverages, WBR staff and invited guests rocked out to such songs as "Fighting With Myself," "Salvation" and "Wanted." A simultaneous crowd-pleasing and oh-wow moment dovetailed with LP's performance of "Into the Wild." The title track from her recently released EP is also the infectious song accenting Citibank's rock-climbing commercial.

Among those enjoying the picnic-like atmosphere were WBR co-president Livia Tortella, senior VP of publicity Luke Burland, publicity director Rick Gershon and publicity manager Roderick Scott and BMI's VP/GM, Los Angeles Barbara Cane and director of media relations Marlene Meraz.
Being buzzed about as the singer with a "killer voice," LP is currently working on her Warner Bros. debut album, expected next year. Her song co-writes include Rihanna's "Cheers" and Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful People."

Sponsored by clothing retailer Express and Heineken, "WBR Summer Sessions" will continue throughout the summer. Its confirmed slate of performers thus far includes Kimbra, Delta Rae and Tegan and Sara. Each showcase will be live-streamed on Warner Music Group's original YouTube channel, youtube.com/thewarnersound.
