Last night (Wednesday, Oct. 24) Kanye West performed an hour-long set covering the breadth of his catalog to some 500 industry insiders, VIP celebs and tech execs for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note II at New York City's Skylight at Moynihan Station.
Here party-goers sipped on specialty cocktails courtesy of master mixologist Sam Ross while taking in presentations by the likes of old school graffiti artist Futura, interior and fashion designer Kelly Wearstler, chef and owner of Gotham Bar and Grill Alfred Portale and photographer Tyler Shields, who were on hand to demonstrate the Galaxy Note II's newest features.

Behind the VIP rope sat T.I., his wife Tameka "Tiny" Harris, Meek Mill, Jennifer Hudson, Donald Glover (i.e. Childish Gambino), and French Montana. It didn't go unnoticed that T.I., French Montana and Meek Mill all have new albums coming out in the next few months.
"What time is he going on?" was the question of night especially amongst hip-hop aficionados and writers, which included: HipHopWired's Alvin "Aqua" Blanco and Kazeem Famuyide, Grantland's Rembert Browne; Hot 97 radio personality and writer Miss Info; and VIBE's online music editor Mikey Fresh.

Nike's Brand Marketing Specialist Will Perkins and PepsiCo's Lifestyle Marketing Specialist Richie Cruz were spotted mingling before making their way towards the main stage close to 'Ye's set time.
When the Samsung Note II launch invite made its rounds last week, all that was known of the night's performer was that they were a "Grammy Award winning artist!" As soon as Kanye West was revealed, many began to wonder: "Will he bring someone out to perform?"

At 11:30 pm EST, West, donning an all black 'fit and signature gold chains, kicked off the special performance with Cruel Summer single "New God Flow." He blazed through his deep discography, hyping the crowd with hits from his first studio album, The College Dropout ("All Fall Down," "Jesus Walks," "Through the Wire") to his most recent project, G.O.O.D. Music collaborative album, Cruel Summer ("Mercy," "Clique").

Aside from the expected, emotionally honest freestyle after "Runaway," which he's performed at past shows, Mr. West spit a few bars of a lady friend at the tail end of "Say You Will."

Before closing the show with G.O.O.D. Music's most recent single, "Clique," Kanye surprised fans when he brought out 2 Chainz to perform his own hit, "Birthday Song."
