Gente de Zona & More to Perform at ASCAP Latin Music Awards

The pair’s crowning arrival comes days after winning two trophies at the 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards (which aired live on April 28 on Telemundo), for tropical song of the year (for “La Gozadera,” featuring Marc Anthony) and tropical songs artist of the year, duo or group.

Formed in 2000, the act shot to fame in 2014 as a featured act on Enrique Iglesias’ “Bailando” (also featuring Descemer Bueno), which spent a record-setting 41 weeks at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs.

Since “Bailando,” Gente de Zona have logged two top 10s on Hot Latin Songs; “La Gozadera” reached No. 2 in 2015, while “Traidora,” also featuring Marc Anthony, peaked at No. 6 on the April 2, 2016 chart (it drops 11-8 on the latest chart, in its 24th week).

Iglesias Extends Record: Meanwhile, Iglesias returns to No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs as “Duele el Corazon,” featuring Wisin, steps 2-1 in its second charting week week. The climb extends Iglesias’ record for most No. 1s on the chart, to 27, and gives Wisin his first ever No. 1 as a solo act, adding to his 10 chart-capping trips as one half of reggaeton duo, Wisin & Yandel. “Corazon” rises due to a 252 percent increase in streams (to 1.6 million for the week), and a 56 percent hike in downloads sold (to 11,000).

CNCO’s Chart Capping Climb: Finally, CNCO flies 8-1 on Latin Airplay with “Tan Facil” (up 90 percent to 17 million audience impressions in the week ending May 1), earning the group its first No. 1. The song, produced by Wisin, is the first single from the winners of Univision’s competition show, La Banda. “Tan Facil” also hops 4-1 on Latin Rhythm Airplay.
