Mike Harris has joined Universal Music Group Nashville as chief operating officer, the label group announced Tuesday (April 19).
Harris enters the position after previously serving as executive vice president/general manager for Caroline, a division of the Capitol Music Group. From 2013–2015, Harris helped lead market share growth over each year, culminating in 2015 marking the company's highest share ever.
Harris will jointly report to Universal Music Group Nashville chairman and CEO Mike Dungan and president Cindy Mabe, and Boyd Muir, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Universal Music Group.
"I have known and worked with Mike Harris for more than fifteen years," said Dungan in a statement. "He is a consummate professional and the perfect fit for UMG Nashville and the Nashville music community. I am honored and proud to introduce him as our new COO."
Harris' previous work experience includes 15 years with EMI in a variety of roles, including executive vice preseident/general manager for label services, executive vice president/finance director, global A&R operations for EMI's new music division and executive vice president/chief financial officer for various labels and divisions within EMI.
Universal Music Group Nashville's artist roster includes Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Chris Stapleton, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, George Strait, Shania Twain, Keith Urban, Kacey Musgraves, Darius Rucker and more.
