The guys of Florida Georgia Line are so excited about striking a deal with Mountain Dew that they’re literally singing it from the rooftop. At least that’s the premise of their brand-new commercial for the soft drink brand, which Billboard is premiering exclusively.
In April, the duo’s Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley invited their biggest Nashville-based fans to rock out with them atop the Acme Feed & Seed, a popular downtown honky-tonk. All the crowd had to do was grab a 12-oz. can of Dew and get their shine on. That fist-pumping, soda-slinging footage was used to create the Mountain Dew commercial, their first major project with the brand since announcing the partnership in January. (Proving their hometown draw, Hubbard and Kelley immediately headed off to play another exclusive show for a completely separate set of local superfans.)
According to Ro Iannucci, Mountain Dew’s senior manager of brand marketing, DEW Nation’s newest inductees are a good fit all-around. “Pushing boundaries and instigating culture is something that’s always been core to Mountain Dew, and they are attributes that we share with the guys from Florida Georgia Line,” Iannucci tells Billboard. “We hope this commercial will show consumers how we’re having a damn good time together as we share our passion for country music.”
FGL’s Mountain Dew commercial will begin airing on CMT on Tuesday (June 2), but you can see it exclusively below.
