President, Flood Bumstead McCready & McCarthy

As the music business evolves, Mary Ann McCready remains energized by new challenges and maximizing opportunities for her business management clients. For the third year, McCready reports that business is up 10% at her firm Flood Bumstead McCready & McCarthy, where she is president. “In our world here, everything is growing,” she says. “What’s different is that the royalty accountings have historically been on the record labels. Now with the 360 deals, we’re doing royalty accountings too. We’re doing our own accountings to the record companies so to be an all-purpose comprehensive business management firm, we’re having to expand our ranks to accommodate the increase in responsibility.” After 13 years at Columbia Records, where she ascended to VP of sales and marketing, McCready founded FBMM in 1990. The firm’s clients include Kings of Leon, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Eric Church, Hunter Hayes, Alabama Shakes, Kelly Clarkson, the Black Keys and Pearl Jam. “We have taken on 10-15 new clients in the last 12 months,” McCready says, noting that the firm now represents Danielle Bradbery, the Swon Brothers, Dan & Shay, Brothers Osborne and Will Hoge, among others. “We are very much in the new-artist business. We always want to be in that business.” —Deborah Evans Price
