Ariana Grande marches up the Social 50 chart to a new peak, as she moves 12-6 following the YouTube debut of her song "PInk Champagne."
The track, which isn't available on her recent Billboard 200-topping album "Yours Truly," was loaded to Grande's official YouTube channel on Oct. 1. It has logged over 350,000 global views to date. In turn, that drove Grande's overall YouTube views up 8% for the week, and, she added 659,000 new fans across both Facebook and Twitter.
Three steps above Grande on the Social 50 is another high-jumping female pop star: Beyonce. Queen B rallies 18-3 on the chart (her highest rank since July) after she revealed images from her upcoming 2014 calendar.
She took to both her Facebook page, Instagram account and official site to share images from the upcoming release. A 9% bump in weekly reaction sent a flock of 701,000 new fans to her Facebook page, adding significantly to her overall following on the platform. The calendar announcement also helped add 113,000 new fans to Beyonce's Instagram account.
Demi Lovato fans were stirred into a frenzy this week as tickets for her Neon Lights tour went on sale October 5. The tour, which hits major U.S. cities and Vancouver between February and March of 2014, will also feature Fifth Harmony, Cher Lloyd and Little Mix. A 114% rise in weekly Facebook activity assisted in her acquisition of 254,000 new fans (up 30%) on the platform, propelling her 14-8 into the top 10.
Little Mix, who joins Lovato on her tour, makes a low re-entry at No. 45 due to several announcements. On Oct. 4, the U.K. group announced the title of their second album, "Salute." The group also announced a new single, "Move," which fans can pre-order on iTunes today along with the album. The re-entry is spurred by the addition of 246,000 new fans (up 61% from the previous week).
A notable No. 39 debut this week goes to Tori Kelly. The California-born singer is managed by Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun, and benefits heavily in the digital space from the association. She has an EP, Foreword, due out October 22 that she's been heavily promoting across all social media channels. The Social 50 entry is prompted by a 23% rise in weekly Wikipedia views for the week.
Back to the top 10, Miley Cyrus continues to surge in the numbers with a 20% rise in overall activity keeping her steady in the No. 1 position. Katy Perry remains at No. 2, while Justin Timberlake falls 3-4. Britney Spears holds at No. 5, while Rihanna climbs 8-7. Justin Bieber continues to slide, moving 6-9 along with One Direction who falls 7-10.
