AEG, MGM BUILDING A 20,000-SEAT ARENA ON THE LAS VEGAS STRIP

Years of talk about building an arena capable of hosting professional sports and big-name concerts yielded an announcement Tuesday that casino giant MGM Resorts International and entertainment company AEG will build a privately financed 20,000-seat indoor venue on the Las Vegas Strip.

The 77 videos on Rihanna’s official VEVO channel now have a combined 3.784 billion views in total, surpassing the total view counts of the 79 videos on Bieber’s official VEVO channel by roughly two million views.

MUSICIAN-RELATED PRODUCTS REACH $122 MILLION IN LICENSING REVENUE, PER 2013 LIMA REPORT

Musical performers and their works collected $122 million in licensing revenue in 2012, a 1.6% increase over 2011, according to a new report issued this week by the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers Association (LIMA)'s 2013 Licensing Industry Report. The annual Licensing Expo 2013 kicked off Tuesday in Las Vegas.

According to Mike Dean, the co-producer of West's new album, the rapper intends to celebrate the release of new album Yeezus with his first solo tour in five years. West's plans were revealed as part of Dean's Ask Me Anything interview on Reddit, in which Reddit users asked him questions about headphones, trap music, and Rick Rubin's love of comfy couches. "Will there be a Yeezus tour? Will you be one of the backing performers during the tour?" asked defrio29. "Yes and yes," Dean replied. "Hold My Liquor is going to be great to play live."

DISH SAYS IT WON’T SUBMIT A NEW OFFER FOR SPRINT AHEAD OF DEADLINE

Dish Network said on Tuesday that it would not submit a new takeover bid for Sprint Nextel ahead of a deadline imposed by the company and would instead focus on its bid for a stake in Clearwire, a smaller wireless operator. That appeared to leave Sprint free to complete the sale of a majority stake to SoftBank of Japan for $21.6 billion.

HMV TO RETURN TO ITS FAMOUS 1921 OXFORD STREET STORE

Entertainment retailer HMV plans to reopen the first store it ever opened, on London’s Oxford Street, two months after it was rescued out of administration. The site is currently occupied by US sportswear retailer Footlocker. It is understood that HMV’s new owner, restructuring firm Hilco, has exchanged contracts on the 20,000 sq ft store’s lease at 363 Oxford Street, subject to landlord approval.

FCC NOMINEE TOM WHEELER TESTIFIES AT CONFIRMATION HEARING

Tom Wheeler, a veteran lobbyist nominated last month to become chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, said he is ready to make the transition from Washington insider to public servant. A former head of the cable television and the cellular telephone trade associations, Wheeler said the FCC needs to be aggressive in "promoting and protecting competition." As most nominees do during confirmation hearings, Wheeler tried to steer clear of too many specifics while questioned.
