SPOTIFY SAID EXPANDING PANDORA-LIKE WEB RADIO WORLDWIDE

Spotify is getting a jump on Internet radio leader Pandora and is close to agreements with record labels to offer free mobile radio outside the U.S., said three people with knowledge of the talks. Spotify seeks to offer ad-supported mobile radio everywhere it operates starting in April, said the people, who sought anonymity because the plans aren’t public.

ASDA IN TALKS TO BUY HMV BRAND - REPORT

Asda has been in talks with HMV administrator Deloitte to buy the entertainment retailer’s brand and remaining 120 stores. That’s according to The Sun, which quotes a City source as saying that the supermarket giant has been looking at the prospect of buying HMV. “And it’s not about taking on a few stores to convert into supermarkets,” the source is quoted as saying. “They’ve been looking at taking on the brand – the business”.

RDIO EXPANDS TO SEVEN NEW COUNTRIES

Rdio announced at SXSW 2013 that it's bringing the streaming music service to seven new countries. The new additions bring the total number of nations that can stream from Rdio to 30, spanning across North America and Europe, primarily. Listeners in the seven new countries — Mexico, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, and Austria — will be able to partake in Rdio's six-month free streaming option alongside the majority of the service's markets. The company has also added free listening as an option in Brazil, which is its third largest market.

LIL' KIM SAYS SHE HAS UNRELEASED NOTORIOUS B.I.G. RECORDS

On the anniversary of the Notorious B.I.G.’s death, the rapper’s close friend Lil' Kim called in to DJ Whoo Kid’s radio show to speak on the legacy of the rapper. Among Lil' Kim’s new projects is an upcoming album which may or may not feature an appearance from the late rapper since Lil' Kim revealed that she does in fact have unreleased material from Biggie. “Actually, Puff and I started to work back together…'Cause I do have some songs with Biggie on them,” Lil' Kim revealed in a video posted on HipHop-n-More.com. The rapstress said some of the unreleased material came courtesy of Biggie’s former DJ, 50 Grand.

VIMEO ON DEMAND TO ALLOW USERS TO CHARGE VIEWERS

Vimeo, a primary YouTube competitor, is set to launch Tuesday an open self-distribution service called Vimeo on Demand that allows members to charge those who view the videos they post. Vimeo’s plan lets members choose price; streaming, download or both options; geographic locations and  other rules. Video creators get 90 percent of the transactions, while Vimeo takes 10 percent.

Authorities and celebrities were grappling with how to respond to a Website that posted what appears to be private financial information about top government officials and stars such as Jay-Z and Beyonce. The Justice Department said Monday the FBI was investigating how the Social Security number, address and a credit report of FBI Director Robert Mueller ended up on the site. Other targeted stars included Beyonce, Ashton Kutcher, Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton as well as Vice President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
