Prince Royce and the late Jenni Rivera were the leading winners of the 2013 Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, which aired live on the Univision Network Feb. 21 from the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami.

Royce collected six awards, including Tropical Album of the Year for his sophomore effort, Phase II, and Tropical contemporary artist of the year. Royce also took awards for his collaboration with rockers Mana on “El Verdadero Amor Perdona.”

Rivera won five awards, including Premio Lo Nuestro Artist of the Year. Rivera’s children accepted the awards on behalf of their mother in what was one of the show’s emotional highlights.

Following in number of awards, with three, were rockers Maná, who won Collaboration of the year and Rock/alternative song of the year for “El Verdadero Amor Perdona,” with Prince Royce and Rock/alternative album of the year for their greatest hits album Exiliados en la Bahía: Lo Mejor de Maná.

Highlights of the awards show included Ricky Martin and Robi Rosa performing “Más y Más,” a duet from Rosa’s upcoming album, and an all-star tribute to Rivera. Special awards were given to ranchera singer (and co-host) Pedro Fernández, who was honored with the Premio Lo Nuestro a la Trayectoria Artística, while Alejandro Sanz received Premio a la Excelencia. Premios Lo Nuestro awards are given in 33 categories, with winners voted on by fans. The award show celebrated its 25th anniversary this year.
