Despite a slow, arduous recovery process in the hurricane ravaged region, the Voodoo Music Festival draws nearly 25,000 people to New Orleans' Riverview Park. The show is headlined by Nine Inch Nails, whose frontman, Trent Reznor, lived in New Orleans for many years. Other performers include Queens Of The Stone Age, Tiesto, the Bravery, the New York Dolls, Secret Machines, Kermit Ruffins, Jon Cleary and the Rebirth Brass Band. "It was a surreal environment in that there was no chaos," says organizer Stephen Rehage.

Recording of the Michael Jackson-penned single "From the Bottom of My Heart" -- a project aiming to raise funds for victims of recent hurricanes -- gets underway in Los Angeles. Although originally expected to be an all-star affair on par with "We Are the World," a spokesperson says, "he didn't need as many artists as he originally had planned for" when it came time to record.
